Nominations invited for Australia Day 2005 Awards

Wellington Shire Council is inviting nominations for the next annual Australia Day Awards, to be presented on 26 January 2005.

Under the program, which is being coordinated jointly with the National Australia Day Council, there are three awards up for grabs -

  • Citizen of the Year
  • Junior Citizen of the Year
  • Community Event of the Year

In addition Wellington Shire Council will be presenting an award for Community Group of the Year – recognising the group that has made the most significant contribution to the shire during 2004.

The closing date for entries is Friday 10 December 2004. Nomination forms are available from the shire’s libraries, the Sale and Yarram service centres or can be downloaded from the council’s website at www.wellington.vic.gov.au.

Said Wellington’s Mayor Jeff Amos: "There are many truly outstanding people and groups within Wellington who make invaluable contributions to our community. By nominating these individuals and organisations we can recognise and celebrate those who give so much and publicly thank and reward them."
