The Diversity@Work Awards is an annual event that recognises and rewards the efforts of individuals, teams and organisations who are working to encourage diversity in the workplace and the wider community.

Ms Brunt has been nominated for her work managing the Extensive Indigenous Employment Program, which contributes to the employment of Indigenous people in Latrobe City and throughout the Gippsland region.

"The program has provided over forty trainesships in Gippsland together with a further ten employment outcomes since July last year, and those placements have been in a wide range of areas, such as hairdressing, lighting, administration, building and construction," Ms Brunt said.

"The program has involved a partnership between Latrobe City Council, the Department of Employment Workplace Relations, Job Networks, apprenticeship services, training providers and employers in the business and industry sector. Their keen interest, enthusiasm and dedication to further Indigenous employment in the region demonstrates the substantial benefits that can be delivered to the entire community when organisations work towards common goals," Ms Brunt added.

Latrobe City Mayor, Councillor Darrell White, congratulated Ms Brunt on her nomination and praised her dedication to increasing Indigenous employment opportunities.

"The Extensive Indigenous Employment Program provides Gippsland’s Indigenous community with career assistance and access to employment resources. The program has had a positive impact on both the Latrobe and the wider Gippsland communities, and Ms Brunt should be extremely proud of her work on the project and her nomination for a Diversity@Work award," Cr White said.

The Diversity@Work Awards will be held on Thursday 9 September in the Great Hall of the National Gallery of Victoria.
