Time Changes To Some Parking Bays In Commercial Road A number of parking bays opposite the Justice Precinct in Commercial Road Morwell have been rezoned from ‘all-day’ to ‘one-hour’ parking following the sealing of the large carpark By Latrobe City Shire Council - 12th April 2007 - Back to News adjacent to the Latrobe City corporate headquarters.
Latrobe City’s chief executive officer, Paul Buckley, said that with the release of a substantial number of additional ‘all-day’ parking spaces in the adjacent off-street car park, short-term parking has been reintroduced to all bays on the north side of Commercial Road between the corporate headquarters and Morwell Centenary Rose Garden.
"The change means that a number of additional short-term spaces have been created for shoppers visiting the CBD, and for those visiting the Justice Precinct or corporate headquarters.
"To avoid the possibility of an infringement notice, it is important that any longer term car park users note these changes and recognise that the affected bays now have a one-hour restriction. The restrictions are clearly marked on adjacent signs.
"Those looking for longer term parking now have a considerable number of additional spaces to choose from in the off-street car park," Mr Buckley explained.
Mr Buckley said lighting and minor landscaping works to be undertaken in the next few weeks will complete the car park adjacent to the corporate headquarters.
"The final project, which is the provision of additional parking spaces between the railway and the rear of a number of commercial properties in Commercial Road, will go ahead once the relative leases are signed and property tenure matters are resolved. The delivery of that final stage will complete infrastructure that enhances the Morwell CBD and encourages shoppers," Mr Buckley added.
