Sounds like the getaway you have been dreaming about for months? While you are having the time of your life you also get to help make a difference in the fight against cancer.Relay for Life began in 1985 by Dr. Gordy Klatt after a good friend of his lost the battle with cancer. An American Cancer Society Volunteer, Dr. Klatt ran for 24 hours, and raised an incredible $27,000 in sponsored donations for the American Cancer Society. Now the world’s biggest fundraising event, Relay for Life is now held in over 1,000 locations. One such event is being held right here in the La Trobe Valley at the Traralgon Showgrounds. Hosted by the Jobs Pathway Program, it will commence at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday the 30th September and conclude on Sunday the 1st October. The event is a continuous team relay for 24 hours. Each team raises funds for cancer research which go directly to the Anti-Cancer Council of Victoria. Support and celebrate the courage and determination of those people living with cancer.
