Council completes Queen Street Park project

The installation of lights last month at Queen Street Park marks the end of the $230,000 project to provide an open, inviting, well lit park for residents and visitors to Warragul.

By Baw Baw Shire Council - 24th July 2006 - Back to News

Baw Baw Shire Council chief executive officer, Mr Glenn Patterson said the installation of the lights completed the capital works stage of the project.

"The lighting is a real feature of the park, particularly in the winter months when the days are shorter, it really looks fantastic all lit up," said Mr Patterson.

"Our vision for these works was to provide a safe, open and inviting park and to improve first impressions of the Warragul Transport Precinct. This has been achieved.

"During this financial year, council has allocated funding to upgrade the toilet facilities in the park to complement the works that have already been completed," said Mr Patterson.

Council parks and gardens staff will install a new irrigation system in the park in the coming months and complete final landscaping works in spring.

Council secured $196,600 in funding from the Department of Sustainability and Environment as part of the Commonwealth Games celebrations dedicated to the project.
