and New Multicultural Business Ministerial Council. Parliamentary Secretary for Small Business and Member for Morwell Russell Northe said the Councils gave small business operators an opportunity to provide advice to Government on matters of critical importance. "Small business plays a crucial part in Victoria’s economy, and is especially important in regional areas such as Gippsland," Mr Northe said. "With a number of viable small businesses in our region, there is a wealth of knowledge and experience that the Government needs to tap into to ensure that the sector continues to grow. "Both Councils will provide advice to the Minister for Innovation, Services and Small Business on a wide range of issues affecting small business, and multicultural business in Victoria, and contribute to policy development in this area."

Mr Northe said the Small Business Ministerial Council had already played a key role in providing advice to the Government on important issues such as regulatory reform, business taxation, skills, workforce planning, occupational health and safety and e-commerce.

"Expressions of interest to participate on the Council are being sought from small business operators with proven expertise, skills and experience," he said. "We would especially welcome nominations from women in small business to ensure that the Council properly reflects the growing number of female small business owners.

"Gippsland and the Latrobe Valley have a wonderful collection of small businesses, and it would be fantastic to have representatives from our region on these Councils. I highly encourage you to put your nomination in, and contribute to the success of the Small Business sector state-wide."
