Statement – Traralgon West Sporting Complex FundingTraralgon West Sporting Complex Funding By Portal Admin - 17th June 2018 - Back to News News that funding has been found to complete the Traralgon West sporting pavilion is great news for user groups of the complex. I congratulate our Federal Member Darren Chester and the Federal Government for contributing the necessary funds to complete this important project.
For more than seven years, the upper section of the pavilion has been unusable much to the frustration and angst of the many user groups who utilise the West End facility. There are a number of sporting and recreation activities that are undertaken at West End including athletics, school sports, cricket, football and umpiring.
A completed pavilion will allow the user groups to hold meetings and functions in an appropriate space, whilst also providing other community groups and organisations an opportunity to utilize these facilities.
Despite repeated requests of the State Government to provide funding to complete these works, this ultimately fell on deaf ears. It is disappointing that State Government had only initially provided a small amount of funding to the project many years ago, particularly when the complex will benefit so many in the community.
I’m sure the user groups of the Traralgon West sporting complex will be thrilled that their wishes have finally been realised and rightly so. I congratulate those who have fought long and hard to have this pavilion finally completed.
