More Fun At Hubert Osborne Park Playground

Hubert Osborne Park playground has undergone an upgrade as part of the Latrobe City playground improvement plan 2011-2016, adopted by Council last year.

By Latrobe City - 22nd March 2012 - Back to News

Latrobe City Councillor Dale Harriman said that the upgrade to the Hubert Osborne Park playground further enhanced the park’s amenity.

"All of the equipment has either been replaced or upgraded and new tan bark has been laid. The play area has been defined with concrete edging and overall the playground looks more appealing.

"The upgrade has certainly been appreciated by the residents who live in the area. A well-maintained playground is a welcome asset to any community, encouraging outdoor fun and family leisure time. Working to the playground improvement plan ensures that we maintain the playground equipment and keep the playgrounds in top shape for all to use.

"Another playground has also recently been completed in Grant Court, Traralgon as a result of the playground improvement plan. The value of these works were in excess of $55,000," Cr Harriman said.

Cr Harriman added that Latrobe City Council and the Traralgon Indoor Aquatic Facility Working Party were working to develop a policy that prevents the sale of Hubert Osborne Park.

"Residents can see that Council intends to not only improve and maintain this playground but to actively ensure it remains in public hands in the future," Cr Harriman concluded.

The playground improvement plan forms part of the Latrobe City Playground Strategy, adopted in 2006, a 15 year plan that aims to address the current and future provision of playgrounds in the municipality.
