Wurruk residents have your say on shared pathway

Wurruk residents are being invited to have their say on proposals for a shared pathway linking Wurruk with Sale, at a special meeting organised by Wellington Shire Council for Monday 20 September.

By Wellington Shire Council - 8th September 2004 - Back to News

The need for such a pathway was raised by local residents in a recent community survey. This council-funded study was initiated by the Wurruk Development Group – comprising leading representatives from the community and agencies – to identify the needs of residents, along with initiatives that would improve their quality of life.

Key amongst desirable improvements being sought by the community are shops for the township, along with improved access to Sale through provision of public transport services and improved pathway connections.

These issues are being carefully considered by the Wurruk Development Group and Wellington Shire Council, with the 20 September meeting organised to look at the idea of a shared pathway – in particular the level of demand and the best way to proceed with the proposal.

The meeting is being held at Wurruk Community House in White Court and will start at 7pm. There is no need to book, simply turn up on the evening. Supper will be provided.

Said Wellington’s Mayor Jeff Amos: "As a council we are keen to do everything we can to help enhance the quality of life of Wurruk residents and improve their connections to Sale. With this in mind we would encourage everyone with an interest in a shared pathway to attend the special meeting arranged to discuss the proposal."

For more information about the meeting arrangements please contact Lauren Carey at the council on 5142 3326.
