Boosting community netball

Agnes Brereton Reserve is the home of the Traralgon Netball Association, which supports more than 1400 participants annually through its winter and twilight competitions. Latrobe City Mayor Cr Sharon Gibson said the upgrade was a significant investment in community sport and recreation.

"It's great to see this upgrade completed and ready for our netball community to enjoy. The new lighting will allow more games, more training and more opportunities for people of all ages to get involved in netball. Facilities like this help local clubs thrive and bring people together through sport," Cr Gibson said.

The project was made possible with funding support of $220,000 from the Victorian Government, in partnership with the AFL, AFL Victoria and Netball Victoria through the Country Football and the Netball Program. The Traralgon Netball Association also contributed $136,000 towards the project. The lighting upgrade will support expanded twilight competitions, additional training opportunities, increased court usage and future growth across junior, senior, women's and mixed competitions.
