The scheme funds small scale building projects throughout the Shire.
"Last year was the first year of the scheme, and a number of community groups benefited," said Cr John Gains, Mayor of Bass Coast Shire Council.
The Inverloch/Kongwak Combined Football/Netball Club and the Phillip Island Netball club each received $5,000 to re-surface their netball courts.
The Rhyll Hall & Park Committee constructed a wind-break around their BBQ’s with $1,320 from the scheme. The Dalyston Hall Committee received $5,000 to seal their carpark.
The Phillip Island Scout Group received funding of $4,900 to construct a storage area. The Bass Coast Artists Society will be able to improve drainage and the carpark area of the Goods Shed in Wonthaggi with funding of $2,000.
The San Remo Foreshore Committee of Management was given $5,000 to replace cisterns and connect their toilet block to sewer. The Phillip Island Community & Learning Centre received $5,000 for the completion of disabled access, a classroom and toilets.
The Sunset Strip Progress Association used $5,000 from the fund for levelling, top dressing and seeding of a local park. The Cape Paterson Hall Committee received $2,500 to renew the Hall’s timber decking.
"The achievements and diversity of projects last year using funding from this scheme was fantastic," said Cr John Gains.
