Live youth theatre is making a comeback in Wellington.

Bringing new opportunities and brighter horizons, the youth theatre will focus on performances by young people, about young people, for the wider community.

Kilmany Family Care and Wellington Shire Council, in conjunction with local young people, are in the process of re-establishing LIVE Youth Theatre to increase the range of leisure and entertainment options for young people in our community.

"We are breathing new life into LIVE, a youth theatre group that ran until December last year,"said Wellington’s Youth Development Officer, Jodie Pullman

"The youth theatre will develop a play that deals with youth issues in a positive way. Participants will be involved in all aspects of theatre work, from script writing to making props.

"Experienced facilitators will run weekly workshops that provide skills in all facets of theatre production, including areas such as acting, set and costume design and script writing. "

Jodie said that Wellington’s young people would also benefit from the input of a number of local performance artists.

LIVE will hold its first meeting on Tuesday 23 July at 6pm-9pm at the Old Library Building (next to Memorial Hall) in Macalister St, Sale.

Any young people aged between 12-24 years of age interested in being part of LIVE Youth Theatre should contact Corrina at Kilmany Family Care on 5144 7777 or Jodie at Wellington Shire Council on 5142 3340.
