Associate Professor William Hart will join the Gippsland Campus By Monash University - 8th November 2006 - Back to News as Assistant Dean of the Gippsland Medical School on Monday, November 6. Associate Professor Hart previously held the position of CEO of NeuroSciences Victoria. Professor Chris Browne, Head, Gippsland Medical School said he is extremely excited to have a person of William’s calibre involved in the establishment of the School and his expertise will have a major impact on the direction and development of the Gippsland Medical School.
Ms Robyn Hill has started at the Gippsland Campus as Director of Curriculum with Gippsland Medical School. Currently on campus every day except Thursday, Robyn is responsible for the design and implementation of the medical curriculum at Gippsland. Robyn previously held the position of Director, Undergraduate Education at the Monash School of Rural Health.
Monash Gippsland Medical School recently submitted Stage 1 accreditation documentation to the Australian Medical Council, which has been accepted and approved. This is another important land mark in the establishment of the Gippsland Medical School. Staff are now engaged in preparation of the stage 2 documentation which is due on March 30, 2007.

Staff and students at the Gippsland Campus will have an opportunity to discover local tourist attractions on November 9 when a representative from the ‘Latrobe Visitors Information Centre’ will be present an outline of the range of tourist activities that can be undertaken within the Gippsland region.
• Making the Grade
Margaret Plunkett, Lecturer, Faculty of Education will be presented a paper at the National Association for Gifted Children (NAGC) Annual Conference from November 1-5 in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA. Her paper is titled "Tales from the pond: Student perceptions of grouped and mainstream learning environments".
• Open Subject
A Chinese delegation from the Sister City for Baw Baw Shire, Jiujiang China visited the Gippsland Campus last week. The delegation met with the Pro Vice Chancellor and undertook a tour of the campus which included accommodation and the Gippsland Education Precinct.
Gippsland Campus Post Graduate student, Narelle Western recently attended the Birds Australia Congress in Albany, WA, presenting her paper titled, "Occurrence and distribution of forest owls in a harvested state forest in Victoria, Australia".
