Box Hill Hawks to host Victorian Football League on 30 April at the Wonthaggi Recreation Reserve against Casey Demons
Box Hill Hawks and Bass Coast Shire Council to host historic double-header in Wonthaggi.
The Box Hill Hawks and Bass Coast Shire Council are excited to announce that the Hawks will host a Victorian Football League (VFL) and Victorian Football League Women's (VFLW) double-header at Wonthaggi Recreation Reserve on Sunday 30 April against the Casey Demons.

Entry free games
Entry to both games is free, with the VFLW commencing at 11:30 am and the VFL kicking off at 2:05 pm. Both matches are expected to be exciting contests, with both Box Hill and Casey coming off 2022 finals berths in the VFL and VFLW.
The entertainment won't just be on-field though, with a range of activities around the ground set to make the day a memorable one for all. The announcement comes off the back of the AFL confirming the Smithy's VFL and rebel VFLW Round 1 fixtures, with both Box Hill teams set to commence their season on Sunday 26 March.

Box Hill Hawks General Manager Pat Clancey said this double-header highlights the strength of the Hawks' partnership with the Bass Coast Shire Council. "We're really excited to give the Wonthaggi and wider Bass Coast community a great taste of Hawks VFL and VFLW football on Sunday 30 April."
"Both Box Hill and the Bass Coast Shire Council share a committed vision to promote Australian Rules football in the region and in particular women's participation, which is why games like this are so important to stage."

Bass Coast Shire Council Mayor Councillor Michael Whelan also expressed his excitement for the double-header. "As Victoria's fastest growing regional community this is not only an important recognition for Bass Coast but reflects our deep commitment to gender equality, inclusion and diversity," Cr Whelan said.
