Latrobe Local News: Give your Voting Ballot Papers to the VECMail your completed voting ballot papers for the council election to the Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC). By Portal Admin - 25th October 2020 - Back to News Latrobe City residents are being urged to mail their completed voting ballot papers for the council election to the Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC).
Alternatively, deliver the completed papers to the VEC’s Latrobe election office at 2/5 Saskia Way, Morwell.
Latrobe City Council is unable to receive completed voting papers at its Customer Service Centres. Service centres, including Council’s Headquarters, remain closed to the public due to current COVID restrictions.
The election is run by the Victorian Electoral Commission on behalf of all Victorian councils taking part in the Local Government Elections, not by individual councils.
"Our Customer Service staff have received enquiries from residents wishing to give them their ballot papers but as much as Council staff like to help our community, receiving these papers is not Council’s role," Latrobe City Council Chief Executive Officer Steven Piasente said.
"The election is being conducted by post and therefore we respectfully ask that voters return their papers in the replied paid envelopes provided with their voting papers. They can do this by posting them in their nearest postal box at a time that is convenient to them."
Completed voting papers must be in the mail by 6pm, Friday, 23 October.
All people aged over 18 must vote in the Local Government Elections or risk a fine.
If you do not get your ballot pack by Friday 16 October, phone the VEC Latrobe election office on 1300 116 408. Also phone the election office if you have received voting papers addressed to a former property owner.
Information about candidates is available on the VEC website, https://www.vec.vic.gov.au/voting/2020-local-council-election
