Traralgon set for basketball showdownIn what is set to be a highlight on many social and sporting calendars this year, the pre-season NBL game between the defending champions the Melbourne Tigers, and the Cairns Taipans is shaping up to be a winner, with tickets selling fast. By Latrobe City Council - 28th August 2006 - Back to News Tip off will be at 7pm on Thursday 24 August at the Traralgon Sports Stadium, Latrobe City’s co hosting venue for the 2006 Commonwealth Games; but it will be well worth getting in early for the 3TR and WIN curtain raiser, with tip off at 5.30pm.
Bringing the heat to Traralgon will be Tigers’ star and veteran Darryl McDonald, who has played a key role in a number of championship wins. Also, keep an eye out for Matt O’Hea who is on the Tigers’ roster for his second year. Matt originally reigned from Traralgon before making the big move to Melbourne with his family and playing for the Nunawading Spectors.
The Tigers will be facing a strong competition, with NBL stars Darnell Mee and Martin Cattalini heading up the visitor’s squad.
Tickets are available from the Latrobe City box office. Prices: Adult $16, Child $12, Family $45, Group Booking (10 people) $104. A limited number of tickets will also be available for purchase on the night at the Traralgon Sports Stadium.
