Businesses Encouraged To Keep Eye Out For Training Calendar

Copies of Latrobe City’s 2009 calendar of small business training programs are currently being mailed to small businesses across Latrobe City.

By Latrobe City - 19th March 2009 - Back to News

The training calendar is a collaborative effort between Latrobe City Council, VECCI, GippsTAFE and i-Gain, and provides small business owners with a wide range of training opportunities throughout the year.

Latrobe City’s acting business development coordinator, Donna Starkey, said the training opportunities identified in the calendar range from short and sharp sessions to longer accredited courses.

"While our database of businesses across the municipality will ensure most business proprietors receive a copy of the calendar in the mail, we urge any small business operator who has not received a copy by 23 March to contact Latrobe City’s business development team by telephone or email, and a copy can be mailed to them.

"Copies of the calendar are also available over the counter from Latrobe City service centres in Moe, Morwell, Traralgon and Churchill."

Ms Starkey said the calendar was launched at a networking session for small business operators held in Traralgon early in March.

"The informal session provided attendees with the opportunity to learn more about training opportunities tailored to their needs.

"Workshops, information sessions and functions highlighted in the calendar include ‘Tax tips and traps for small business’, ‘Getting the right staff - for first time employers’, and ‘Apprenticeships and traineeships’. A training session detailing the impacts of climate change and carbon trading for small business is also included in the guide," Ms Starkey added.

For further information or a copy of the calendar please contact Latrobe City’s business development unit on 1300 367 700 or email donnast@latrobe.vic.gov.au.
