Rock Eisteddfod Petitions Are Now AvailablePetitions to support the continuation of the Victorian Rock Eisteddfod Challenge are available for distribution and signing.
By Russell Northe - 22nd February 2010 - Back to News Available from Nationals Member for Morwell Russell Northe, and Member for Eastern Victoria Peter Hall's electorate offices, the petition asks that the Brumby Government increases its funding commitment to the Victorian Rock Eisteddfod Challenge to ensure the event continues this year and into the future.
"The Victorian Liberal Nationals Coalition has pledged $800,000 to keep the Rock Eisteddfod going if elected this November, but unless the Brumby Government matches the commitment, this year's event will be cancelled," Mr Northe said.
"This petition gives Gippsland residents the opportunity to support this event, which is under threat.
"There is also an online petition, as well as a Facebook group, which shows this news hasn't been taken lightly. About 7500 Victorian students will miss out if Premier John Brumby doesn't increase the funding.
"I urge all community members to help by signing the petitions and letting the Brumby Government know that there is huge support for the continuation of Victoria's Rock Eisteddfod," Mr Northe said.
Petitions are available from Russell Northe's office at 66 George Street, Morwell, or from Peter Hall's office at 181 Franklin Street Traralgon.
The online petition can be found at www.savetherocka.com.au, and on the
