By Department of Primary Industries - 5th September 2005 - Back to News

The Tanjil River downstream from Blue Rock Dam is closed to all hook and line fishing during the salmonid closed season.

Recreational fishers are encouraged to check local regulations before going fishing.

Fishing Guides are available from tackle outlets and Departmental offices.

Eric Wiseman, Recreational Fisheries Officer said it is important that anglers refresh their understanding of fishing laws.

"Fisheries Victoria is committed to having a high presence in the Gippsland region during the coming trout season," Mr Wiseman said.

Trout season in Victorian rivers and streams opens on Saturday 3rd September.

Members of the public who observe any apparent illegal or suspicious fishing activity are reminded to call the 24 hour 13FISH (133 474) reporting line.
