Talented local guitarist Christopher Wood will perform a recital at Morwell Library on Thursday 2 October as part of the ‘Live @ your Library’ program.

Morwell Branch Co-ordinator, Cate Riches, said that live performances show people that libraries can offer more than just books.

"Libraries also offer the community a place to share knowledge, experience and grow together," Ms Riches said.

"The Morwell Library is keen to showcase local talent and is pleased that Mr Wood has offered to return and perform some more of his wonderful rhythmic music."

Christopher Wood’s exceptional style of guitar playing is influenced by the Flamenco guitar and dance tradition.

"His technique and mastery of the instrument is unique and we think it will bring a new life and energy to Morwell Library," Ms Riches said.

Latrobe City Mayor, Councillor Graeme Middlemiss, said that the nature of libraries has changed in recent times and there are now more services offered to people than ever before.

"Not only can people now see live performances at libraries, but they can access the Internet, create and check their own email account, research family history on CD ROM and hire DVD’s, CD’s and videos," Cr Middlemiss said.

"So much more is offered by libraries now. They have changed with the times and they give people access to the latest in cultural and technological advances."

Christopher Wood will perform at Morwell Library between 12noon and 1pm on Thursday 2 October. Admission is free.
