Successful Sponsorship and Fundraising Forum heldApproximately 90 community group representatives attended a Sponsorship and Fundraising Ideas Community Groups Information Forum held in Morwell recently. team, the session provided community groups with information on successful fundraising and ways of securing sponsorship.
Latrobe City’s Community Development Officer, Teresa Pugliese said that the forum, delivered by David Drane from Gippsport, offered practical tips and hints on how to take the guesswork out of securing sponsorship and raising funds.
"Mr Drane explained the fundamentals of sponsorship and other aspects such as why businesses sponsor groups, how to prepare a sponsorship proposal and protecting sponsorships," Ms Pugliese said.
Latrobe City Mayor, Councillor Graeme Middlemiss said that this session had been offered in response to an assessment conducted by Latrobe City of the needs of community groups and their networking opportunities.
"To date we have organised five forums, all of which have been well attended by community groups. We have received very positive feedback from the sessions and hope that the community groups that have attended have been able to utilise the information to benefit their organisation and its aims," Cr Middlemiss added.
"We intend to continue the forums next year. We are gathering feedback on what format the sessions should take, with the option of having workshops, with a more hands-on approach, as well as the existing information sessions," Cr Middlemiss explained.
Ms Pugliese said that following on from this session, the final Community Group Information Forum for 2003 has been organised for Wednesday 12 November.
"This session will focus on recruiting volunteers and committee members. The forum will take place at the Italian/Australian Sporting Club of Gippsland, Princes Highway, Morwell, from 6.30pm to approximately 9pm," Ms Pugliese said.
