With regional football and netball back bigger and better than ever, the Victorian Government is proud to continue supporting clubs in Eastern Victoria to grow and sustain participation and help communities thrive through the Country Football and Netball Program.

Partnership to help football and netball clubs

Member for Eastern Victoria Harriet Shing today announced applications to the 2021-22 Country Football and Netball Program are now open to upgrade and develop facilities for football and netball clubs, so they can meet growing demand and welcome even more members.

It’s a partnership with Netball Victoria, the AFL, and AFL Victoria to help netball and football clubs across the state, because everybody deserves equal facilities, no matter where they live.

Redeveloping and building ovals

Grants of up to $150,000 are available to deliver projects such as redeveloping and building new ovals and netball courts, installing sports lighting, and building new and redeveloped pavilions. There’s a focus on supporting communities who have recently experienced natural disasters or communities that are experiencing socio-economic disadvantage, strong population growth or other economic challenges.

Launched in 2005, the program has invested more than $30 million to more than 500 projects across the state. Better sport and recreation facilities make it easier for players, coaches, umpires and supporters of all abilities to get involved in local sport and lead healthy and active lifestyles. Round Two of the program will open in September 2021.

Better facilities for the footy and netball clubs

Member for Eastern Victoria Harriet Shing said, "Everyone deserves a fair go and that’s why we are supporting country football and netball clubs and the players, supporters and volunteers who make them strong. Regional clubs including those in Eastern Victoria are a breeding ground for some of nation’s greatest champions. They deserve modern and safe facilities they can be proud of."

"Better facilities allow clubs to take on more players, host more events and draw bigger crowds, creating a real buzz in the community and boosting local economies. I urge clubs here in Eastern Victoria to talk to their local shires and councils to kick start projects that can make a real difference in people’s lives."

Applications from local Councils are now open and close on 22 June 2021. For more information or to apply online, visit netball and footy grants.
