Regional Industry Link To Benefit Local BusinessesAn initiative aimed at matching the capability of regional industries with prospective buyers can now benefit Latrobe City industry, following the recent introduction of the program into Gippsland. By Latrobe City - 29th September 2008 - Back to News The program, managed by the Industry Capability Network (ICN) is funded by the Victorian Government through Regional Development Victoria to
Identify and provide business opportunities to regional businesses from major projects and procurements taking place all over Victoria.
Latrobe City mayor, Cr Bruce Lougheed, said the initiative will help local industries take advantage of business opportunities created by the development of numerous projects within and beyond the local region.
"There are significant opportunities created through projects currently occurring or in the development stages, that are aimed at enhancing Victoria’s energy, water, agricultural, forestry, mining and commercial capabilities," Cr Lougheed said
"The Regional Industry Link is an industry development program that can assist our local industries to grow and diversify. Utilising this new resource can deliver positive results for local businesses keen to prosper. While empowering individual businesses and providing them with benefits, a program such as Regional Industry Link has a wider beneficial effect by promoting the region’s industry as a whole, and thus stimulating local employment and economic growth," Cr Lougheed said.
Latrobe City’s general manager economic sustainability, Allison Jones, said local businesses registered on the Regional Industry Link website will have the ability to benefit from viewing business opportunities and selecting industry categories that match their business capabilities.
"They will also be able to receive email alerts of opportunities matching their selected industry categories, and record their capabilities with ICN for local, national and international supply opportunities," Ms Jones explained.
To register, businesses need to visit the Regional Industry Link website www.regionalindustrylink.com.au.
For further information on registering a business on the Regional Industry Link website please contact Latrobe City’s business development coordinator, Jody O’Kane, telephone 5128 5460; or regional manager ICN Gippsland, Bob Stevenson, telephone 0403 195 512.
