Melbourne Comedy Roadshow To Deliver Local LaughsFrom Albury to Alice, Cairns to Karratha, Hobart to Horsham – and all the way to Singapore - the ninth massive Melbourne Comedy Festival Roadshow is trucking out of Melbourne to tour Australia (and beyond) By Latrobe City Council - 27th April 2007 - Back to News and will arrive at the Latrobe Performing Arts Centre on Saturday 12 May from 8pm.
Latrobe’s performing arts and venues coordinator, Kathleen Roberts said that the roadshow had grown in strength and popularity over the years and tickets are selling fast.
"Featuring a roll call of the most fabulously funny home-grown and overseas comedians fresh from the 2007 Melbourne International Comedy Festival, this year’s roadshow delivers a slick, sophisticated, unpredictable, entertaining and outrageous night out to comedy fans far and wide.
"This year’s cast will include Josie Long and Russell Howard from the UK;
well known Australian comic and actor, Greg Fleet along with up and coming comedians Michael Williams from Warrnambool and Hannah Gadsby from Tasmania," Ms Roberts said.
"Josie Long is described as one of Britain’s bright new hopes of the comedy scene, delivering a show about the mysteries and joys surrounding little things and why it is okay to be a dork. Russell Howard has a killer off-the-cuff style; his gigs are spontaneous and improvisational. He is a natural comic possessing irrepressible enthusiasm.
"Greg Fleet has appeared in numerous Australian television shows including Prisoner and Neighbours and is now one of Australia’s most popular stand-up comedians. Michael Williams and Hannah Gadsby are both rising stars on the Australian comedy scene," Ms Roberts said.
"If you want a night of belly laughs, wit, improvisation and theatre, then this is the show to see," Ms Roberts concluded.
The Melbourne Comedy Festival Roadshow is coming to the Latrobe Performing Arts Centre on Saturday 12 May at 8pm. Tickets are available from the Box Office on 5176 3559.
