Bows Licks The CompetitionMorwell based Bows Natural Ice Cream, the mecca for all ice cream lovers, has once again scooped gold awards at this year’s Royal Melbourne Show. Five ice cream flavours were entered and five gold awards were won. By Latrobe City - 25th September 2007 - Back to News According to Leo Billington, Latrobe City senior business development officer, Bows Natural Ice Cream has been a consistent winner of medals at both the Royal Melbourne Show and the Dairy Industry Association of Australia Awards.
"This year proved quite remarkable with all Bows’ entries achieving top awards competing against strong competition from many other, highly rated manufacturers," Mr Billington said.
Business partners, Allan Clam and Vajo Simic are justly proud of their achievements since commencing business 14 years ago.
"We take great pride in using natural ingredients including local milk, cream and fruit. Our reputation is built on our recipes," Mr Clam said.
"In this year’s Royal Show, we won gold awards for Donatella rock, mango alfonso and lime, apple pie, boysenberry and passionfruit flavours. The key criteria against which these are judged include taste, quality, nutritional value, flavour, aroma, texture, colour and condition," Mr Clam explained.
"Vajo and I consider that consistently winning medals and industry awards is an effective form of marketing. It also proves that regionally-based small businesses can actually make a difference by highlighting their capabilities to the wider world. In addition, our consistent level of success is testament to our highly-trained staff who remain dedicated to producing and selling top quality ice cream. Ours is a boutique industry quite capable of securing a strong market share," Mr Clam concluded.
