Development Helps Small Business, JobsEastern Region MP Peter Hall today (Thursday 16 July) officially opened what he described as a new landmark building for Traralgon. By Peter Hall - 16th July 2009 - Back to News Mr Hall said the Traralgon Business Centre at 55 Grey Street could also prove a boon for small business operators who wanted to start in business but without the big start cost of their own office facilities.
"The Traralgon Business Centre is providing something that I think is new and much needed in the Latrobe Valley," Mr Hall said. "A fully serviced office complex like this will, I hope, support new businesses and therefore development of jobs for the area."
The double storey complex commenced operation at the start of this month (July). It has a number of major tenants on the ground floor as well as offices, with the serviced office development also on the second floor.
"It has been designed to meet the needs of small to medium businesses without the costs of establishing an independent office," Mr Hall said. "It is also a symbol of the growth of the Traralgon central business district as it is expanding the boundaries of the business centre in Gippsland’s largest town."
The Traralgon Business Centre was developed by local group Greenfields, whose principals are Russell Christensen and Chris McDonough.
As well as the building itself, the Business Centre provides high speed broadband, mail handling, photocopying, courier services, secretarial services and conference and meeting facilities as part of the service facilities. There is also a dedicated receptionist to answer and manage calls.
"Another feature is the ‘virtual office’ capacity," Mr Hall said. "It can provide a business address, phone number, mail service and telephone answering service, which can help those in business start-up mode.
"I can see this facility will encourage people who have a great business idea but don’t have the wherewithal to establish their own office immediately. We need to encourage and support people who want to get into business and this is infrastructure that I believe will help achieve that," he added.
