In March, Latrobe City Council will commence a ‘Grow Your Business’ Program for small to medium enterprises.

Latrobe City’s general manager economic sustainability, Allison Jones, said that the program was open to firms with a manufacturing or services base, and will involve a two-day business planning workshop followed by two one-on-one sessions the program.

"The program has been organised in response to small and medium enterprises needs as identified in Latrobe City Council’s recent business survey. Our survey results indicated that Latrobe businesses wanted access to more information and training opportunities," Ms Jones said.

"It’s a fantastic opportunity to learn about business planning and to get assistance in implementing strategies to help improve and enhance business operations.

"The real benefit from these programs is that after the initial training sessions, the consultants visit participating business to discuss their operations," Ms Jones explained.

Ms Jones said that Sea Eagle Consultancy would operate the program on behalf of Latrobe City Council.

"Sea Eagle Consultancy is a husband and wife team who are themselves former small business owners. They have real business experience – they’ve lived the strategies they’ll be recommending and they’ve seen a business through both the good and the bad times," Ms Jones added.

The program will cover business planning, marketing, branding and company image and niche marketing. At the end of the program participants will have developed a comprehensive plan for implementation in their business. The total cost for the program is $475 per participant.
