American Basketball Import Jason Conway and Hazelwood Power's Public Affairs Manager, Mr Neil Lawson will launch on Friday the 25th of May, 2001 the Hazelwood Power Schools Program at Tobruk Street Primary School.

The Schools Program provides opportunity for children in the Latrobe Valley and Gippsland to gain insight into the life of a professional American basketballer, to actively participate in a range of physical activities and to develop some ball handling and basketball skills along the way.

President of the Latrobe City Pacers, Mr David Roberts again welcomed the financial support of Hazelwood Power in securing the services of Jason Conway and implementing the Schools Clinics.

Roberts said that the school’s clinics are very popular with the young people and they relish the opportunity to meet a player of Jason's calibre.

“Last year we visited over a dozen local schools promoting an active and healthy lifestyle and encouraging young people join a local basketball club" he continued.

We hope our involvement in the schools reinforces the current health message as well as encouraging support for basketball and the Latrobe City Pacers,” he concluded.

To arrange for the Pacer to visit your school contact David Roberts on 0412 724 465 or go along to their home game this weekend (26/5/2001) at the Moe Newborough Sports Centre.
