Education through enchantment with Family Day CareIt was fun, fun, fun at the Elizabeth Wilmot preschool building in Morwell recently, when Latrobe City’s Family Day Care unit held a lively musical experience incorporating educational themes as part of the regular weekly playgroup activities. By Latrobe City Council - 25th July 2006 - Back to News The children, family day care staff and care providers were all enchanted by the comical antics and energetic musical performance provided by 'Scarecrow and Friends’, a performance group specialising in child education through entertainment.
Latrobe City’s children’s services coordinator, Kate Kerslake, said everyone was invited to participate in a range of dynamic, fun experiences with the emphasis on the children learning more about issues such as nutrition and healthy eating, multicultural awareness, sun safe and road safe practices.
"There were plenty of opportunities for children to be involved in the show," Ms Kerslake explained. "There was lots of dancing along to the music, and children, staff and care providers participated in playing the musical instruments and even became involved in some of the magic tricks. The session provided a great environment for the children to learn about various topics, and for everyone to come together to have fun.
"It was a thoroughly entertaining, fun and educational experience enjoyed by all, and added strength to our program of many other appealing activities," Ms Kerslake concluded.
