Nominate a local for Victorian Women’s Honour RollMember for Morwell Russell Northe is calling for nominations for outstanding local women to be inducted into the Victorian Honour Roll of Women for 2017. By Portal Admin - 14th September 2016 - Back to News Mr Northe said the Women’s Honour Roll, established in 2001, celebrates the achievements of Victorian women in a wide range of fields including women from diverse backgrounds, aboriginal women, women with a disability, and regional and rural women.
"Past inductees include former Superintendent for Gippsland Tess Walsh, Melbourne Cup Winner Michelle Payne and 2015 Australian of the year Rosie Batty," Mr Northe said.
"It’s a tremendous pleasure to call forlocal nominations for the Victorian Honour Roll of Women for 2017, which recognises and celebrates women who have made an extraordinary contribution to Victoria through their vision, leadership, commitment and hard work," he said.
Mr Northe said 582 Victorian women have been inducted onto the roll since 2001 and nominations for this year close on Friday 7 October 2016.
"It is important the Honour Roll includes women from across Victoria including our regional and rural areas," Mr Northe said.
"If people know of a local woman who has made or is making an outstanding contribution to the community and is a genuine role model, then nominating them for the Victorian Honour Roll of Women is a tremendous way of saying thank you," he said.

Nominees must be either born in Victoria, have spent a considerable part of their life in Victoria or have made a significant contribution to Victoria.
Inductees for 2017 will be announced in March next year as part of the celebration of International Women’s Day.
