Seniors Share in Christmas CheerSpreading Christmas cheer to residents of aged care homes. By Portal Admin - 17th January 2021 - Back to News Latrobe City Council is spreading Christmas cheer to residents of aged care homes across the municipality.
Latrobe Performing Arts presented the show, "Celebrate, It’s Christmas" at the Latrobe Performing Arts Centre in Traralgon in late November.
The show was filmed and copies were delivered to aged care facilities by Latrobe Performing Arts staff, and Latrobe City Council Mayor, Cr Sharon Gibson, and Deputy Mayor, Cr Darren Howe, recently.
The show, by Promac Productions, was held before a minimal audience to satisfy COVID-19 restrictions.
The show featured traditional and contemporary Christmas songs, with performances by soprano Alison Rae Jones, originally from Morwell, tenor Roy Best and Chris McKenna.
Aged care facilities received a copy of the filmed show so that residents could share in festive cheer in the lead-up to Christmas.
DVDs/USBs of the show were delivered to 14 aged care facilities on 15 December, enabling more than 1300 people through the aged care centres to enjoy the show.
"With the COVID-19 pandemic interrupting many traditional Christmas celebrations, Council was delighted to be able to bring this remarkable show to residents of aged care homes across Latrobe City," Cr Gibson said.
"Christmas is not Christmas without traditional songs and I’m sure this performance will ensure our seniors can share in the festive spirit."
