The Early Learning Conference will feature a day of workshops at Monash University Gippsland Campus on Saturday 21 July with sessions focusing on child behaviours, learning and development. The workshop will be preceded by a dinner featuring a keynote speaker at the Churchill Football Netball Club on Friday 20 July. Dr Rick Kausman, a medical doctor who has made many appearances on radio and television will discuss strategies to increase life balance at home and productivity at work in what promises to be an entertaining address at the Friday night dinner. At the Saturday conference Fairlie Sharp, early childhood teacher, will be presenting the ‘Movement Matters’ workshop demonstrating activities that are used to elevate children’s learning, focus and self esteem. Bianca Pezzutto, early years training consultant, will present a workshop called ‘Minimal Effort Maximum Fun-Recycled Art’. It will focus on educating and entertaining children with games, craft and activities, for a minimal price and, as the title implies, maximum fun. Diane Chandler from The Lady Gowrie Child Centre is presenting a workshop on grief and loss. This workshop focuses on understanding and identifying the symptoms of grief. She also advises on strategies to help assist children to cope with loss. Heather Barnes, also from The Lady Gowrie Child Centre, will present ‘Engaging Boys’, a workshop to help understand the characteristic differences between boys and girls and to develop new ideas to increase positive behaviour in boys. Lisa Andraczke, Kinder Gym Kerry Bergman and Jane McCann from Community Childcare will presents ‘Language Strategies’, a workshop to enhance the language development of children, and workshop about outdoor play environments and their benefits.
