Gippslanders are urged to nominate locals with lasting legacies for naming new streets, parks, and buildings. Danny O'Brien encourages submissions to honour notable figures for their community contributions.
Gippslanders are being encouraged to nominate locals who have left a lasting legacy to lend their name to a local place. The state government is seeking to create a name bank for councils to assist with naming new places such as new streets, parks, community facilities and buildings. The Nationals Member for Gippsland South, Danny O'Brien highlighted that there is a long history of high achieving and notable Gippslanders and is encouraging locals to come forward with nominations.
Anyone who has left a lasting legacy can be nominated? The person may be known for community and volunteer work, healthcare, science, architecture and building, sport, arts, public or military service
Honouring Gippsland legacies
Mr O'Brien said, "Gippsland's history is bursting with notable characters who are fondly remembered, and this is a great opportunity to honour their legacy.
