Old Tip Road Is Temporary SiteThe transfer trailer to be used as part of the new waste disposal arrangements for Ensay will be temporarily located on the old tip road pending results of submissions from local residents. By East Gippsland Shire Council - 16th September 2004 - Back to News East Gippsland Shire Council is proposing that subject to these submissions, in Ensay the transfer trailer will be located at Doctors Flat Road, (Pretty Flat) from Monday to Thursday each week, and Little River Road (Blow Hard Corner) from Friday to Sunday.
Councillors recently considered a number of waste management options presented by the Ensay community at the consultation meetings held in July and August.
However, the options had a significantly higher operating and capital cost than had been allowed for in the 2004-05 capital improvement and operating budgets.
Following careful consideration Council unanimously voted:
- to close and rehabilitate the Ensay landfill, extend the domestic garbage collection service to the Ensay Township and provide a transfer trailer in the surrounding area.
- In accordance with Section 162 of the Local Government Act declare the township of Ensay a defined garbage collection area as set out on the plan and apply a garbage charge to all properties
- instruct Council Officers to begin the service from 1 October 2004;
- consult with the community on the location of the transfer trailer;
- instruct Council Officers to write to property owners within the Ensay Township advising of Council’s decision;
- instruct Council Officers to complete a contract variation with Tambo Waste to provide a garbage collection service to the Ensay Township; and
- advise the community of its decision.
The Ensay landfill will officially close on Sunday 19 September, with the new domestic collection service beginning on Wednesday 22 September.
Community submissions on the location of the transfer trailer can be made to Ms Katie Zagami, Waste Management Coordinator and must be received by Close of Business Monday 4 October.
