Gloria McDougall from Morwell was presented with a Classic Trivial Pursuit Genus V boardgame last week for winning the Latrobe City Library Service’s ‘The Big Ask’ competition, part of the Just Ask @ Your Local Library campaign which ran throughout May.

Coordinator Morwell Library, Cate Riches, who presented the prize, said that ‘The Big Ask’ was a fun trivia competition that included 20 general knowledge questions.

"The questions were fun and weren’t meant to be too hard, but some did require a little research, such as ‘what size shoe does Ian Thorpe wear?’ and ‘which Internet search engine is named after a famous bultler?’," Ms Riches said.

"The quiz was designed to promote the use of local library services and to encourage people to ask their local librarians about how to find certain information. The whole point of ‘The Big Ask’ competition and the Just Ask @ Your Local Library campaign was to demonstrate that librarians don’t just help people with school assignments, they are asked all sorts of questions and help people research everything from building a pergola to finding out why a bee stings.

"People often find that their local librarians are also great sources on community information and Internet sites. Libraries have a fabulous array of activities and services on offer, people just have to remember to just ask about them," Ms Riches explained.
