YMCA Wonthaggi Heats Up

Bass Coast Shire Council has upgraded the heating in its YMCA Wonthaggi Aquatic and Leisure Centre women’s change rooms – much to the delight of early morning lap swimmers and Aqua Movers participants.

By Bass Coast Shire Council - 28th September 2007 - Back to News

"After years of service, the added pressure during the winter months witnessed the heating unit’s pilot light blow out for the last time," said YMCA Wonthaggi Centre Director, Rebecca Wilson.

"Bass Coast Shire Council has provided a new $7,000 heating unit in the Council owned facility with a brand new energy efficient system that will keep the change rooms warm for years to come.

"The response from members and patrons has been overwhelming, especially from the dedicated ladies who attend the Aqua Movers classes," continued Ms Wilson.

"Evening participants in Aquatic Education Classes, Swim Squads and the pool in general are just as thrilled with the new heating.

"They’ve commented that although invigorating to dry off in a cold change room they certainly prefer the comforts of the warm surrounds!"

The Aqua Movers classes attract up to 40 participants per class and are conducted three mornings a week at 9.15am Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Starting on Monday 8 October a high intensity Aqua Aerobics class titled "Water Workout" will return at 7.00pm.

"That should provide you with energy to burn for the working week," joked Ms Wilson.
