Maternal And Child Health Centre Celebrates First BirthdayThe Traralgon maternal and child health centre has recently celebrated the first anniversary of the centralised facility in the Kay Street civic precinct. By Latrobe City - 24th May 2007 - Back to News Latrobe City’s general manager city services, Peggy Stevenson said that to mark the occasion, the new parent’s group joined with maternal and child health nurses to share a birthday cake.
"Over the past year many families have attended the centre which is open five days a week and easily accessible in this central location. The open, airy and bright look of the centre contributes to the welcoming atmosphere for young families.
"Parents and carers can bring their children in for routine health and developmental check-ups with the experienced and qualified staff here, as well as seeking information, advice and guidance on all aspects of caring for children," Ms Stevenson explained.
"New parent’s groups are also held here, allowing new mothers and fathers the chance to meet with other families in the area and discuss the challenges and triumphs of raising babies," Ms Stevenson added.
Ms Stevenson said that the Latrobe Early Parenting Day Stay Program is now also co-located at this centre.
"This program previously operated at Latrobe Community Health Service (LCHS) in Morwell but has now been relocated to the Traralgon Maternal and Child Health Centre.
"Latrobe City Council and LCHS are working together to continue to provide this invaluable service for families of children aged from birth to three years who have settling, sleeping, feeding and or behaviour issues," Ms Stevenson concluded.
