The course is designed for beginners and run by OPENChannel. It introduces participants to the processes of digital video production covering areas such as basic video production theory, using a digital video camera, location lighting, sound recording and non-linear editing.

An intensive two and a half day component will see participants shoot a short scripted film and experience the various crew roles of directing, camera operating, sound recording, lighting and editing.

This course will coincide with the recently announced travelling Big Screen Film Festival to be hosted by the council in Briagolong over the ANZAC Day long-weekend. The three-day festival will feature a line-up of Australian films from much-loved classics to the best the contemporary scene has to offer.

Anyone interested in taking the course should telephone Wellington Shire’s Streetlife Project Coordinator, Darren Randle on 1300 366 244, or visit the OPENChannel website at www.openchanel.org.au.

Said Wellington’s Mayor Peter Gault: "This course is a unique opportunity for the shire’s aspiring film makers to learn new skills and gain a solid-grounding in the basics of digital video production.

"Wellington is home to some extremely talented people and the council is very pleased to be supporting these interactive courses to assist them to enhance their skills.
