Ticket Machines For Boat Ramps

Bass Coast Shire Council is installing day ticket vending machines at the Rhyll, Cowes and Inverloch Boat ramps to make it easier for boat users to buy tickets.

By Bass Coast Shire Council - 19th March 2009 - Back to News

According to Council’s Environment Manager, Paul Smith, the installation of machines will be complete before Easter.

"By far the most common reason for boat ramp users not buying a ticket is that no outlets were open when they went fishing," said Mr Smith

"The ticket vending machines will allow 24 hour access to tickets and will make it much easier for Community Safety Rangers to police the boat ramps."

The ticket machines have been trialled at the Newhaven boat ramp over the past 12 months.

"We’ve had positive feedback from users at the Newhaven boat ramp and there has been only a small amount of vandalism and minimal disruption to the service," continued Mr Smith.

The standard fee of $6 per day remains and all money received from the sale of boat ramp tickets continues to be used to maintain or upgrade recreational boating facilities. Monthly and annual tickets are still available at the usual outlets.
