Member for Eastern Region, PETER HALL has called on local seniors to consider nominating for appointment to the Ministerial Advisory Council of Senior Victorians (MACSV).

By The Nationals - 22nd February 2007 - Back to News

Mr Hall said the MACSV provided a formal avenue for older people to provide advice to the State Minister for Aged Care on issues relating to the well-being of senior Victorians.

The Department for Victorian Communities is currently seeking expressions of interest for appointment as members to the MACSV.

"Members will have an interest and experience in promoting the role of older people in society, the capacity to think clearly and analyse information to contribute to the development of Ministerial advice, good communication skills and the capacity to understand the needs of Victorians from diverse backgrounds," Mr Hall explained.

He said nominations were being encouraged from seniors in rural and regional areas, those from culturally diverse backgrounds and Indigenous elders.

Members would be appointed as individuals on the MACSV and would not represent specific organisations, he added.

Anyone interested in nominating can obtain a copy of the MACSV Terms of Reference and Nomination Forms from Peter Hall’s electorate office at

190 Franklin Street, Traralgon, or by telephoning 5174 7066. Nominations close on Tuesday 13 March.

More information is available about the MACSV on www.seniors.vic.gov.au or by contacting Heather Birch on 9208 3877 or emailing macsv@seniors.vic.gov.au.
