Sporting Uniform Grants Now Open Member for Morwell Russell Northe is encouraging community sporting groups and organisations in the Morwell electorate to apply for the next round of sporting uniform grants. By Russell Northe - 19th July 2013 - Back to News Grants of up to $1000 are available for sporting uniforms and sports-gear including jumpers, shirts, skirts, boots, socks and bathers.
Mr Northe said the cost of participation in many sports is getting beyond the means of many participants and these uniform grants provide an opportunity for clubs and organisations to reduce costs.
¡§Latrobe City has a large number of premium sporting facilities that provide opportunities for people to become involved in all types of team sports,¡¨ Mr Northe said.
¡§These local sporting teams are vital to the fabric of our community and this grant is a great opportunity to inject some energy into clubs with new uniforms or footwear.
¡§I encourage all eligible sporting and recreational clubs to take advantage of this program,¡¨ Mr Northe said.
Priority will be given to projects that:
„hƒnIncrease participation in communities with existing low levels of participation in sport and physical activity
„hƒnReduce financial barriers to participation in communities with existing high levels of socio-economic disadvantage
„hƒnProvide uniforms for competitors and active participants (including umpires) rather than for non-playing officials
„hƒnMaximise benefit of the grant by providing uniforms that will be owned by the club and used by multiple members/teams over time
