Gippsland's New Release Wines Prove A Success!2002 wines from the Windy Ridge Winery go down a treat By Emma Kae - 17th July 2002 - Back to News Gippsland region has long been recognised for the culinary delights that can be found within its borders. Arguably the most notable of which is the wine from the region, sought after by both local and interstate wine lovers.
In a celebration of the new releases of the coming season, Gippsland’s Windy Ridge Winery, in conjunction with the Fishy Pub (of Fish Creek) held a debut dinner to introduce people to the 2002 new release wines the 1999 Cabernet Sauvignon & Malbec and 2000 Pinot Noir 'Cellar Reserve', accompanied by top
The anticipated annual event took place on Friday July 12 and was attended by many wine lovers, many of which were regular diners at the Fishy Pub, or subscribers to the regular online newsletter by the Windy Ridge Winery.
Patrons purchased a souvenir tasting glass embossed with the Fishy Pub and Windy Ridge Winery logos and enjoyed a free tasting of the new-release Windy Ridge wines. Attendees were then free to order their meal from a special menu, with Windy Ridge wines to compliment their selection.
Favourites for this year included the 2000 Pinot Noir and the 1994 Cabernet Sauvignon & Malbec, with plenty of support for the 1999 Cabernet Sauvignon & Malbec.
The atmosphere was friendly and relaxed, with curious guests chatting with winemakers Graeme and Georgia Wilson about the wines they had created. The meals and service at the Fishy Pub were first class, and all enjoyed a great night out. At the end of the evening, the presenters of the evening stood for an ovation from the appreciative patrons.
