Open Air Gym For InverlochJane Hackel of Jane Hackels Massage Retreat has welcomed a $33,000 Victorian Government grant to upgrade sport and recreation facilities in the Inverloch area. By Bass Coast Shire Council - 16th June 2006 - Back to News Member for Western Port province, Geoff Hilton, announced the funding last week saying it was crucial local sporting clubs and exercise groups had adequate facilities to give more Victorians the opportunity to get active and involved.
The project will involve the installation of 18 fitness stations at four locations along the Inverloch foreshore, which allow community members to select various activities that can be adapted to their own fitness level.
One station will be accessible by wheelchair, making the facility suitable for use by people of all abilities. One of the main locations will be at the Central Picnic area on the foreshore which has recently had the public conveniences upgraded and the beach access ramp installed to allow easy use by all the public.
The project proponent, Ms Hackel, said she was ecstatic to hear the news that her project finally had the funding to get off the ground.
"This funding is in addition the $7,100 I have raised personally and a Bass Coast Shire Council $5,000 community grant via the Inverloch Rotary Club.
"I would also like to thank Jenny Churchill, Derek Hibbert and Paul Smith of Bass Coast Shire Council, not only for their help in obtaining financial support, but for their help in preparing my funding application, planning the project, gaining the necessary permits and also for the ongoing supervision of the works.
"They have done a great job and have been very supportive of my community projects all the way," thanked Ms Hackel.
"May I further express my heartfelt gratitude to VicSports Australia for the grants, to the Rotary Club of Inverloch, who have been supporting my projects from day one.
"And a big thank you to all my other supporters including the Lions Club, Inverloch-Kongwak Football and Netball Clubs, Inverloch Coast Action Groups, Council’s Wonthaggi and Inverloch Visitor Information Centres, Andersons Inlet Angling Club, the Sentinel-Times and Great Southern Star, all my clients from Melbourne, Inverloch and surrounds, sponsors, my Inverloch volunteers and the Tai Chi on the Beach Loyals.
"And lastly, thank you to my supportive husband and my mother, who taught me the virtue of patience!" "Construction for the Open Gym will begin as soon as the Inverloch Foreshore shared pathway is finished," Ms Hackle advised.
