Sports GrantsSporting organisations within Bass Coast are being invited to submit applications for Sport and Recreation Victoria grants. By Bass Coast Shire Council - 9th August 2006 - Back to News Council’s Arts and Leisure Coordinator, Jenny Churchill said the grants offered some wonderful opportunities for regional sporting organisations.
"There are a number of different grants on offer," said Ms Churchill.
"Information sheets detailing the grants are available from our Customer Service Centres.
"This is a great opportunity to get the State Government to assist you with a project.
"However, any interested organisation must finance their share of the cost of the project," reminded Ms Churchill.
Available grants include funding for Community Facilities, Emergency Facility and Equipment Replacement funds, Country Action Grant Scheme and VicTalent.
Community Facility Funding covers minor (up to $200,000) and major facilities (between $200,000 and $500,000).
The Equipment Replacement fund is to help organisations to replace essential sport or first aid equipment lost or destroyed as a result of fire, theft or flood.
The Country Action Grant Scheme is designed to fund initiatives that will improve sporting organisations, enhance skills and provide accessible opportunities for all members of the community.
VicTalent offers financial assistance for travel expenses for organisations to assist developing athletes, coaches, officials and teams.
An information sheet detailing available grants must be collected before applying. These are available from Customer Service Centres or by phoning 5671 2211 or 5951 3311.
The closing date for community organisations to have applications to Council is Friday, 8 September 2006.
Application forms can be obtained by contacting Sport and Recreation Victoria’s Traralgon Office on (03) 5174 7308 or via the website www.sport.vic.gov.au.
