Multi purpose taxi program forum

Wellington Shire Council is inviting residents who use the multi-purpose taxi program to participate in a forum about recent changes to this service.

By Wellington Shire Council - 29th March 2004 - Back to News

The forum will be held on Wednesday 7 April from 1.00pm-3.00pm in the Wellington Room at the Port of Sale Civic Centre in Foster Street, Sale. This venue is wheelchair accessible and hearing assistance equipment will be available.

The session will present the latest information on the recent changes to the service and gather information about how these changes will directly affect users in our community. Guest speakers include representatives from the Department of Infrastructure, the Victorian Council of Social Services and the Safer Transport Action Group.

Said Wellington’s Mayor John Jago: "The council was concerned at the cutbacks to the taxi program and made strong representations to the minister. It is essential that the eligibility for the program remains fair and that it continues to meet the needs of people with a disability, especially older people living in rural areas.

This session will be a great opportunity for users of the multi purpose taxi program to ask questions or raise any concerns they may have."

More information on the coming session is available by telephoning Wellington’s RuralAccess Project Officer Frances Ford on 1300 366 244.
