Holiday House Registration Closes SoonHoliday home registration closes on 31 March 2012. By the end of March, owners of holiday rental properties able accommodate six or more people must have registered their property with Council. By Bass Coast - 9th March 2012 - Back to News Bass Coast Shire Council’s Community and Economic Development Director, Steven Piasente, said he encouraged relevant owners of holiday homes who had not registered, to do so soon, as there were penalties for non-registration.
"The aim of the registration process is to deliver peace of mind for holiday renters. We anticipate that over time more visitors to our Shire will be looking for accommodation of this type and will only want to rent registered properties.
"This is because holiday makers can be assured that registered houses meet all the applicable public health standards," Mr Piasente said.
Mr Piasente said registration would also help Council manage those unfortunate occasions when renters impact on the neighbours through overcrowding, noise and other unacceptable behaviour.
"To assist holiday home owners, Council has put together an information pack to guide owners through the registration process. Council Officers have also been working with real estates agents to help them with the introduction of these important changes," Mr Piasente said.
We have been encouraged by the level of cooperation we have received from real estate agents through the introduction of these new public health standards".
