2003 Victorian Flexible Learning Leaders Announced Leading professionals in the Victorian vocational education and training (VET) sector were selected recently to receive funding to champion advances in flexible learning during 2003 and beyond. By GippsTAFE - 24th April 2003 - Back to News
Leading professionals in the Victorian vocational education and training (VET) sector were selected recently to receive funding to champion advances in flexible learning during 2003 and beyond.
This year fourteen change leaders from Victoria wanting to make a difference received up to $37,500 each to help expand VET awareness of flexible learning applications and innovations.
Nita Schultz (Manager, Education and Learning Services) and Miriam Cornish (Manager, Organisational Development), from GippsTAFE were named as Flexible Learning Leaders, giving them access to $30,000 in funds for professional development.
Nita and Miriam will use the funding to develop a cross-organization change management plan for a workforce planning strategy that is inclusive of flexible and on-line learning.
Flexible Learning Leaders is a VET network of people charged with leading change in flexible education and training. Leaders occupy strategic positions from which they can encourage learners and industries to take up the growing number of options in flexible learning.
The project was developed under the Australian Flexible Learning Framework, a national initiative managed and funded collaboratively by all states and territories to stimulate and encourage flexible learning within Australia.
This year’s Leaders from Victoria work in VET areas including Adult Community Education, an Industry Training Advisory Board and TAFE institutes. They will lead the advance of flexible learning through providing corporate training and action learning opportunities. Sponsoring organisations demonstrate their faith in their representatives by matching program funding.
Australian National Training Authority Chief Executive Officer Moira Scollay said this important initiative of the Australian Flexible Learning Framework for the national Vocational Education and Training System is entering a new phase.
"The number of Flexible Learning Leaders is now sufficient to form a national network of change agents that will take Australia towards global leadership in flexible learning and innovation," she said.
More than 100 previous year’s Leaders from throughout Australia have joined together to form the Wollemi Ringleaders, named after the Wollemi pine. The 2003 Flexible Learning Leaders will now integrate with this network to expand the Leaders’ increasing sphere of influence and expertise within the Australian VET sector.
