Building Permits Required For Garages, Carports And Sheds Under $5,000Wellington Shire council is advising that recent changes to Victorian building regulations mean building permits are now required for the construction of garages, carports and sheds valued at less than $5,000. By news@gippsland - 4th July 2005 - Back to News Previously the regulations only applied where the value was more than the $5,000.
The change means that all such structures, whatever their value, now require a permit, except sheds with a floor area not exceeding ten square metres and a height not exceeding three metres.
Information sheets detailing the new requirements are available from the council’s Port of Sale and Yarram service centres.
