Latrobe City’s performing arts and venues coordinator, Kathleen Roberts, said that the HIT Productions play would appeal to a diverse audience with its gentle humour and relevant plot.

"The play has a wonderful cast of well-known Australian actors and delivers a hilarious snapshot of middle Australia," Ms Roberts said.

Starring Peter Phelps (Stingers), Dennis Coard (Home and Away), Hannah Norris, Ally Fowler, Toni Scanlan and Ryan Hayward ‘Let the Sunshine’ centres on Toby and Ros, retired left wing radicals who flee to the upmarket Sunshine Coast seaside town of Noosa to escape scandal in Sydney.

Ros meets an old school friend Natasha, who is married to Ron, a hugely wealthy property developer. The connection between the two couples seems destined to be brief and acrimonious except for one thing: when their children find romance together, the patter of tiny feet brings on the clashing of egos and then, in typical Williamson fashion, it’s on for young and old.

"Dealing with ageing, the questionable benefits of materialism, and how errant actions of sons and daughters can affect a marriage. Williamson perfectly captures the times with his deft, confident style of comedy," Ms Roberts said.

Tickets for ‘Let the Sunshine’ by David Williamson are available from the box office on 5176 3559. Performance date is Tuesday 20 March from 8pm, with the bar open from 7pm.
