Consultation Begins For Cowes, Ventnor And SilverleavesBass Coast Shire Council is about to begin its consultation for the Cowes, Ventnor and Silverleaves Structure Plan. By Bass Coast Shire Council - 28th September 2007 - Back to News Council appointed, Coomes Consulting Group, will run a community consultation session on Monday 8 October in Cowes.
The session will be held at the Cowes Cultural Centre, at 91-97 Thompson Avenue, from 7 to 8.30pm.
Council’s Strategic Planning Coordinator, Lisa Dunlop, said input from the community was critical.
"This Plan will help address the concerns that residents have about planning and development.
"The Plan will outline what will happen to land over the next 15 years.
"This includes where resident growth and medium density development should take place, and where tourism development should happen," continued Ms Dunlop.
"The plan will look at how to improve traffic and car parking and ways to improve retail and commercial areas. It will also look at ways to deal with any environmental or landscape issues in the areas."
Ms Dunlop said the Council would work closely with all the utilities, such as the water board and electricity providers, to make sure the Structure Plan fits with their future plans as well.
"The 8 October consultation session won’t be the only time that we ask for community input," informed Ms Dunlop.
"We will also be conducting additional consultation sessions throughout the project. Preferably we would like to hold these over summer when there are more people in the area."
Council recently go the go-ahead from State Government to trial a new process to get the Plan into the Bass Coast Planning Scheme faster.
